RISING SEAS: The Experience

Interactive 3D Modelling Installation and Website of Sea Level Rise

Lead by Human Impact Lab in collaboration with: Autodesk Inc, iLLOGIKA and The Bay Institute

Rising Seas: The Experience is an interactive 3D platform that allows users to visualize and understand the real impacts of sea level rise at specific iconic public locations.

Using large interactive touch screens, users will be able to change global emissions levels to witness how sea level rise will effect the location where they are standing as well as explore other locations as they navigate from an earth view to city view to street view.

Our first installations in collaborations with The Bay Institute will be installed in locations like the San Francisco airport, the entrance to the Bay Bridge, The San Francisco Aquarium at Pier 39 and near any of the large tech company headquarters in Silicon Valley (most are at risk).

At the end of the experience the user are guided through an animated flyover of the Bay Institute's proposed solution; rebalancing the levy infrastructure and restoring 100,000 acres of wetlands around the Bay Area to create a natural barrier that will reduce the height of waves reaching the shoreline and the damage incurred by sea level rise by 50% over the next 50 years.

Our goal is to continue to add other cities and physical locations to the Rising Seas map, building our platform and making the entire experience available online as a tool that can be embedded on any website.
